• Struggled academically throughout schooling due to defiance against authority figures
  
• Enlisted in USMC at age 18 on May 4th, 2020, three days after his 18th birthday

• Participated in two tours within Syria
  
• Following a standard patrol along the Arabian Peninsula, his squad triggered an IED and were ambushed by hostile terrorist forces. Several marines were killed and Riley was left wounded. This event has left a lasting mark on the marine's psyche.
